A call to service.

In 2020 at the height of COVID-19, Daniel Hazlett worked from home as a Process Improvement Specialist. The pandemic was surging, and he found it hard to ignore the growing strain it was having on healthcare systems. With a background in healthcare operations, Daniel felt compelled to assist in the public health response. While he jokes that his Netflix queue was finally empty, the reality is that he wanted to make a meaningful impact.

He called on his network and soon found himself in a key meeting with the City of Chicago’s Public Health Department. What started as a brief chat about setting up an alternate care facility at McCormick Place Convention Center quickly turned into a 10-hour session. That day, Daniel’s resolve was cemented: he was fully committed to making a difference in public health.

DH Systems Solutions was born

With a clear mission, Daniel dove into action, tackling everything from organizing vaccine distribution to developing tools for fair allocation and smooth communication. He even managed mobile vaccine events and coordinated at-home appointments. His efforts helped thousands of Chicagoans and established the company as a key player in the city’s public health response. To keep up with the continued change, the company grew and became the team we have today.

Our journey with Microsoft Power Platform

As the City of Chicago Public Health Department faced the immense task of managing and analyzing huge amounts of data, they turned to DH Systems Solutions for help. We stepped in to integrate Microsoft’s Power Platform—think Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power Virtual Agents—into their operations.

Change Management

We got to work, collaborating closely with the department to understand their needs. Our goal was to set up a system that made data management and decision-making a breeze. We didn’t just install tools; we rolled up our sleeves, trained their team, and made sure everyone was equipped to use the new system effectively.

Digital Automation

With Power BI, the department could now visualize data in real-time, allowing them to track and respond to public health trends more swiftly. Power Automate took over repetitive tasks, freeing up valuable time. Custom applications created with Power Apps streamlined their processes, and Power Virtual Agents helped handle a flood of inquiries automatically.

Operational Excellence

But our work didn’t stop there. We provided ongoing support to keep everything running smoothly as their needs evolved.
